A WORD FROM THE CEO.... It all began with a piece of collaborative research undertaken by Dourthe and
James Suckling just finished tasting more than 450 Super Tuscans. In his report, Super stars Orma and Oreno got an amazing 98 points!
It seems that everything is simply outstanding about the 2015 vintage. An excellent year that reminds me of 2007.
The 2015 vintage was a warm and generous growing season and produced ripe and juicy grapes. Some producers say that the grapes lacked a touch of natural acidity and that the wines can be slightly too fruity in 2015, but I have not found that in my tasting of more than 450 different wines. The reds are generous and fruity yet maintain tannin tension and backbone.
Orma Bolgheri Toscana 2015 – 98 Points
Plenty of ripe blackberry and incense. Opens up beautifully in the glass. So perfumed. Full body and seamless tannins that coat your palate with a silky texture. Wonderfully framed with complex fruit. Drink in 2021 but already gorgeous.
Oreno IGT Toscana 2015 – 98 Points
Plenty of blackcurrant, blackberry and dark chocolate character with oyster shell and walnut undertones. Full body, extremely tight and structured with blueberry and light vanilla and coffee highlights. A gorgeous Oreno. Give this wine two or three years to come together.
Crognolo IGT Toscana – 94 Points
A firm and chewy young wine with chestnut, chocolate and oyster shell character. A blackberry undertone. Full body, polished and fresh. Drink now or hold in your cellar.
