Often quoted as the gold standard in sweet wines since 1897, Loupiac is more than capable of standing its ground compared to its illustrious neighbours in Sauternes.
Alain Thiénot fell under the wine’s charm on tasting the 1929 vintage, and bought the property in 1980. Château de Ricaud Loupiac focuses on aromatic intensity, with a floral rather than sweet character, and lively and fresh on the palate. It has made its name as a benchmark in Loupiac and it is not without good reason that it has been referred to by a number of journalists as the “Yquem of the Right bank”.
