Château Les Graves De Cantereau

In the spring of 1966, Roland Bel bought an estate, which at that time included a vineyard comprising of 3 hectares. These days, this stands at 25 hectares with diferent appellations. Today, the business is managed by his two sons, Alain and Jean-Marie. A strong vineyard is assured by Jean-Marie, who carries out rigorous monitoring throughout the year. Managing this constant struggle demands constant attention, and careful planning, on a sometime daily basis.

Vineyard & Vinification Note

Age of vines: 50 years old

Mechanical harvesting with successive sorting. Traditional winemaking type in cement tanks, intense pumping at the beginning of winemaking for the extraction of colour and fruit aromas. Winemaking at 28 °, average duration 3 weeks maceration. Malolactic fermentation in tank. In barrels in December.

Ageing: 14 months in Allier barrels (50%new barrels).

Tasting Note

Deep red colour with vivid and brilliant tints. On the nose, nice intensity with strong aromas of red berries, typical for merlot having reached full maturity and harmoniously mixed with slightly woody notes. After a supple attack, the wine is ample and round in the mouth with a lot of freshness. Light toasted vanilla notes strengthen the complexity of the aromas.

Food Pairing

Ideal with grilled red meats, duck magret, game and strong cheeses
