Gadais Père et Fils
Muscadet-Sèvre-et-Maine-Sur-Lie aux Avineaux

The Gadais have been specialising in making quality Muscadet since the early 1950’s. Based in the village of St.Fiacre in the heart of the Sèvre et Maine district, the Domaine aux Avineaux is aged on its lees for up to 6 months. This traditional ‘sur lie’ maturation results in a Muscadet that is crisp and fresh yet with a certain richness. Perfect with shellfish and seafood or as an aperitif.

Vineyard & Vinification Note

SOIL AND SUBSOIL COMPOSITION : Orthogneiss

AVERAGE AGE OF VINES : 20 years old

SURFACE VINES FOR THIS VINTAGE : 7 hectares

YIELD : 55 hl/h

CONDITIONS OF HARVEST : Picking the grapes at full ripeness to give maximum flavour.

WINE MAKING AND MATURING :

Following a cold static settling of 24 hours, the use of carefully selected yeast allows for a slow fermentation. During 12 to 15 days,

temperatures are maintained between 18° and 20°c to conserve the wine’s full aromatic potential. Ageing on lees up until spring lends the wine pearls and aromatic complexity.

Tasting Note

Pale yellow colour, quite subtle on the nose, fresh and crisp on the palate but with a lovely roundness combined with a refreshing acidity.
