Muscadet (Loire)
Gadais Père et Fils

Domaine Gadais is a family-owned estate for five generations, located in Saint-Fiacre, in the heat of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine.

The estate is spread out over around a hundred plots, all dedicated to the cultivation of Melon de Bourgogne.

Favouring a healthy, nature-focused approach to work, Domaine Gadais has also always advocated for sustainable agriculture.

Christophe Gadais has managed the Domaine since 1994. Committed to adding value to the estate’s agricultural heritage, he diversified the portfolio.

His son, Pierre-Henri Gadais, joined him in 2016, after studying viticulture and winemaking and travelling abroad. He gained an interest in organic and biodynamic agriculture: a new approach to wine, with the objective of respecting raw materials and limiting interventions to reduce the addition of sulphur.

Today, the story continues with constructing a semi-underground, gravity-fed cellar. They also owe the diversity of their wines to its extremely diverse soil. The vines benefit from several rock types that will help to produce authentic wines with strong personalities. Between orthogneiss, mica schist, and amphibolite, all these metamorphic rocks create ideal conditions for growing especially original Melon de Bourgogne.
