Domaine Pierre Amadieu celebrated 90 years in 2019! Established by the Amadieu family in 1929 in the heart of Provence, today they own several estates, totalling 140 hectares. The oldest vines of Domaine Grand Romane’ are situated on slopes at the bottom of the ‘Dentelles de Montmirail’, 400m above sea level. The Amadieu family pursues the long-established family tradition of respect for the soil in order to produce wines that reflect and embody their unique terroir. Pierre Amadieu is not a follower of over-extracted wines and often “heavy” to taste ; his ambition is rather to obtain well-balanced wines with a Burgundy fineness. Through the maturing he tries to reveal all the elegance and the richness of their protected terroirs located on the heights of the appellation Gigondas. The wine is aged in a mix of new, one and two-year old barrels and large oak casks in the underground cellars of ‘La Machotte’. Once matured the wine displays fragrances of black and red fruits, aromas of vanilla, and toasted flavours of thyme, laurel and black olives.
Definitely one of the best Gigondas money can buy!
