Description
Château Rahoul (member of the distinguished Union des Grands Crus) has always been renowned for its
white wine, which is made predominantly from Semillon. Château Rahoul white ranks among the best in the appellation. With its fine balance between aromatic complexity, freshness and amplitude in the mouth, it elegantly withstands several years of ageing. The red is known for its finesse and elegance. The meticulous work carried out in the vineyard makes it possible to produce very seductive red wines, which garner praise for their accessibility and great value for money.
Alain Thiénot acquired Château Rahoul in 1986, with the aim of maintaining its position as one of the greatest Cru wines in Graves.

70% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon 3% Petit Verdot
Vineyard & Vinification Note
Vintage 2009: Despite episodes of hail, the vintage has certainly not disappointed. After the hail of May 12th, which severely affected the parcels around the Château, thanks to an exceptional summer with extremely high temperatures and sunshine hours and an idyllic autumn, the grapes reached levels of ripeness rarely equalled. With extremely fruit-laden juices, the grapes are showing signs of concentration on every level, with relatively high alcohol levels being the only shortfall, given the impressive ripeness.
HARVEST: Merlot: September 30th to October 9th
Cabernet Sauvignon: October 9th to 13th
Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot: October 10th
AGEING: 12 months in barrels (25% new barrels).
Tasting Note
Concentrated, deep garnet in colour, red and black fruit aromas of generously ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and redcurrant dominate the bouquet. Initially soft on the palate, the wine develops impressively harmonious tannins and alcohol. The tannins are delicate and create a wine with abundant charm.
