In 1950 Silvio Nardi bought Casale del Bosco situated west of Montalcino, he then purchased Manachiara to the east in 1962 and Bibbiano Castle. In 1967, the Nardi Estate was among the founders of the important Brunello Consortium. Since 1990 Silvio’s youngest daughter Emilia, has been at the helm, ably assisted by her brothers. Tenute Silvio Nardi aim to produce a modern style Brunello, delicate whilst maintaining the traditional Brunello style. These wines remain full-bodied, are matured 5 years in cellar and may be drunk for years to come.

Vineyard & Vinification Note

Spurred cordon training system. Manual harvesting in the second half of October. Wine making: Fermentation and maceration for at least 20 days at temperature controlled vats. Maturation for 12 months in new and used French oak barriques (allier), followed by 12 months in large Slovanian oak barrels. Bottle aged for at least 6 months

Tasting Note

Intense ruby red colour with garnet highlights. Clean, sophisticated, intense and complex aroma, rich in evolved overtones, with hints of anise, ripe wild berries and a light touch of vanilla. Warm with supple tannins, great structure, good length and considerable ageing capacity.

James Suckling Tasting Note

Bright and vivid with crushed raspberries and orange peel on the nose. Full body, tight and solid tannins and a long and flavourful finish. Pretty austerity. Better in 2019 when the tannins softern. 93 Points, December 2016

Wine Spectator Tasting Note

Rose, strawberry, cherry and black pepper aromas and flavours are the highlights of this red. The unyielding structure provides support, surrounded by a lush texture. Fine length. Best from 2020 through 2033. 92 Points, Bruce Sanderson, June 2017

International Wine Report Tasting Note

The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino from Tenute Silvio Nardi slowly begins to open with inviting aromas of dark cherries and hints of dark plum woven together with spices, floral, leather and hints of zesty notes. On the palate this full-bodied Brunello is well structured around fine grained tannins which expand beautifully onto the long, chewy fruit. While this shows some early appeal, it will ultimately require a few more years of bottle age to flesh out. 92 Points

Wine Enthusiast Tasting Note

Red berry, toast and black spice aromas lead the nose, accented by whiffs of expresso. The palate offers liquorice, clove, dried cherry and vanilla notes, while a backbone of fine-grained tannins provides support. 91 Points

Jancis Robinson Tasting Note

Tasted blind. Youthful mid ruby. Bags of sweet raspberry fruit on the nose and perfumed, sweet, raspberry fruit with zesty acidity on the palate. Big tannins play up for the moment, yet this is incredibly long. 16 Points

Delivery Schedule:

We deliver Monday to Friday, some bank holiday deliveries are possible, please check by replying to your confirmation email.

CENTRAL LONDON: We do our best to make all central London deliveries the next working day for orders placed before 12pm.

GREATER LONDON: Again for orders placed before noon we will endeavour to deliver the next day. Some areas might take us a little longer to cover, but it is unusual for these deliveries not to be within three working days.

UK MAINLAND: We deliver most orders around the rest of the UK within a working week, but some harder to reach postcodes like the north of Scotland or Isle of Wright might take longer. Please contact us for details.

Special Instructions:

If you have special delivery requirements e.g. by a specific date, am/pm, or deliver to a neighbour if out – please add them to the delivery instructions during checkout and we will try to fulfil them within reason.

Receiving your Delivery:

Please ensure someone is present to receive and sign for the goods at the delivery address. Goods must be examined; any discrepancy with your order, any damage or errors must be reported and logged on the driver’s ePOD device. Please call us if in doubt.

If you have given us an alternative address or instructions to leave your delivery at a safe place, our driver will do that but this means that we can no longer be held responsible for any loss, damage or mispicks.

Should we be unable to deliver we will try and deliver on the next available day. We might have to charge you the cost of re-delivering. This will be confirmed by email.
