Vineyard & Vinification Note

Vintage 2012: Painstaking remodelling of the vineyards at Ricaud, undertaken by the Dourthe teams in 2008, paid off in this complex vintage. Vines planted on high quality, predominantly clay-limestone terroirs, coped well, despite significant variations in water levels. The ideal weather conditions from the month of August onwards, raised our hopes for a really great vintage, which has been confirmed on tasting the different batches.

The reds, which were left on the vine until the very last minute, were picked at the start of October over a relatively short timeframe in order to reap the benefits of good weather at the start of the month. They are already soft and well-balanced, underpinned by impressive aromatic intensity.

Temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats. Ageing in oak barrels (225 liters and 400 liters) for the best lots.

Tasting Note

Deep in appearance with ruby tones. The complex bouquet reveals ripe fruit aromas of strawberry and cherry, together with a hint of liquorice. Very generous on the palate, structured by lovely, rounded tannins, evolving towards a long, savoury finish with well-integrated oak character.

Food Pairing

Red and white meat (entrecôte bordelaise, minute steak, beef tartare, neck of lamb, leg of mutton, duck magret), vegetables and side dishes (gratin dauphinois), cheese (Mimolette, Cheddar, Gruyère, Parmesan).

Highlands and islands will be charged separately and calculated at checkout.

Delivery Schedule:

We deliver Monday to Friday, some bank holiday deliveries are possible, please check by replying to your confirmation email.

CENTRAL LONDON: We do our best to make all central London deliveries the next working day for orders placed before 12pm.

GREATER LONDON: Again for orders placed before noon we will endeavour to deliver the next day. Some areas might take us a little longer to cover, but it is unusual for these deliveries not to be within three working days.

UK MAINLAND: We deliver most orders around the rest of the UK within a working week, but some harder to reach postcodes like the north of Scotland or Isle of Wright might take longer. Please contact us for details.

Special Instructions:

If you have special delivery requirements e.g. by a specific date, am/pm, or deliver to a neighbour if out – please add them to the delivery instructions during checkout and we will try to fulfil them within reason.

You can also ask for a gift card with a personalised message to be added to your delivery at a cost, please contact us to arrange.

Receiving your Delivery:

Please ensure someone is present to receive and sign for the goods at the delivery address. Goods must be examined; any discrepancy with your order, any damage or errors must be reported and logged on the driver’s ePOD device. Please call us if in doubt.

If you have given us an alternative address or instructions to leave your delivery at a safe place, our driver will do that but this means that we can no longer be held responsible for any loss, damage or mispicks.

Should we be unable to deliver we will try and deliver on the next available day. We might have to charge you the cost of re-delivering. This will be confirmed by email.
