Château Suduiraut 1er Cru Classé, 2002

£48.00

Category: France, BORDEAUX, Château Suduiraut, 2002

Château Suduiraut, in Sauternes, goes back centuries. After the total destruction of the property by the Duke d’Epernon in the 1600s, Count Blaise de Suduiraut replanted the vineyard and restored the estate to its former glory. The Château is a superb example of 18th century architecture. Aristocratic, classical and bright in style, it is surrounded by charming gardens designed by Le Nôtre.

Tasting Note

A golden yellow colour with flashes of green. The nose, initially floral, blossoms into a fresh fruitiness of pear, plum and grape, followed by touches of candied citrus fruit and a discreet vanilla woodiness. It is both concentrated and feather-light on the palate with a combination of fullness, fruity flavours and a crisp freshness. The finish remains on the same plane before ending with remarkably distinguished mineral, minty and fruity touches. This delicate, munchy but extremely concentrated wine has a great future thanks to the excellent liveliness of the vintage and the rigorous care lavished on its crafting.

Wine Spectator

Ultra clean, with apple, vanilla and honey aromas that follow through to a full-bodied palate, medium sweetness and a long, caressing finish. Delicate and balanced. Best after 2007. 7,500 cases made. 90 Points –July 2006

Food Pairing

Perfect match to foie gras, scallops, crème brulées and some cheeses such as Roquefort or comté.
