Description
Dartigalongue was established in 1838 and is run today by the fifth generation of the family. It stands as the oldest and most respected house in Bas-Armagnac. Their Brandies are distilled exclusively from grapes produced in this area. As with Grande Champagne in Cognac, Bas-Armagnac produces the finest Armagnacs. The spirits are aged to perfection in oak casks and only bottled or blended before shipping.
The Dartigalongue family accumulated a unique collection of Millésimes over the generations. The oldest vintage is 1848, the pride of the house, as it is unique in the Armagnac appellation and exclusively available from the Dartigalongue family.
Tech. Note
Every vintage is unique and has its own personality. Its characteristics evolve from year to year with the ageing and the « angel’s share » (3 to 4 % of evaporation each year in wood).
The bottling is done by hand regularly, and the bottling date is always indicated on the back label.
Tasting Note
Deep copper colour. On the nose, smoked wood, dried nuts, and cinnamon – very intense.
Very fine Vintage, the finish with liquorice and dried apples notes.
