Allen Meadows’ Burghound
A brooding and backward nose offers up the pretty essence of plum, dark currant, spice and a hint of forest floor character. There is excellent power and verve to the more mineral-inflected big-bodied flavors that display fine length along with a touch of warmth. This isn’t super-dense (though neither is it dilute) but nonetheless, there is ample structure that will ensure a long life for those who wish to wait. 92 Points ♥ Jan 2021
Wine Advocate Tasting Note
Aromas of cassis, wild plums, sweet soil tones and candied peel introduce the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered wine that’s concentrated and lively, concluding with a long finish. The domaine’s 69 ares of vines produced 14 barrels this year. 91-93+ Points, William Kelley, Feb 2020
