Allen Meadows’ Burghound
A ripe and deeply pitched nose offers up notes of plum, black raspberry, earth and cassis where a note of herbal tea also appears. There is excellent energy and delineation to the bigger and more structured flavors that terminate in a bitter cherry pit-inflected finish that is at once moderately austere and rustic. This is a robust and very serious old school Gevrey that will definitely require at least some patience. 89 Points, January 2021
Wine Advocate
Offering up notions of black raspberries, peonies, rose petals and baking chocolate, the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is medium to full-bodied, rich and muscular, with fine tannins and good underlying freshness. Like the Clos Prieur, it’s a promising bottle in the making. 89-91 Points, William Kelley, Feb 2020
Food Pairing
A great partner of guinea fowl, chicken, duck, rack of lamb or a simple steak (no heavy sauces. Also good partner with cheeses (not pungent)
