The Roger family descends from a long line of winegrowers from the village of Bué dating back to the early 1600’s. Jean-Max Roger took over the four hectares left to him by his parents in the early 1970s and expanded the estate. Now two of his three sons, Etienne and Thibault work at the estate too, which covers an area of 26 ha in Sancerre AoC and 5 ha in Ménétou-Salon AoC. We love the fresh, clean bouquets they achieve and the light but penetrating flavours.

Vineyard & Vinification Note

Soil: clay-limestone and flint – Vineyard: Les Chante-Alouettes – Exposure: south-western – Commune : Pouilly sur Loire

Age of vines: 10 to 40 years – Density: 7,000 plants / hectare – Yield: 50 to 60 hl/ha – Pruning: Single Guyot. The soil is worked beneath the rows and grass is grown between them. The vines are disbudded in the spring. Each vineyard parcel is monitored so as to optimise chemical interventions while reducing them as much as possible.

The grapes are pressed immediately using a pneumatic press and the must is cold settled for 48 hours. – The grape sediment is carefully removed and the clear juice is brought up to temperature. – Fermentation using indigenous yeasts takes place under controlled temperatures for several weeks in order to give a maximum of aromatic complexity to the wine. -The first racking takes place in January or February and is followed by ageing on the lees. – Bentonite fining removes unstable proteins and polishes the aromas. – Cold stabilization reduces tartrate crystals. – The wine is Kieselguhr filtered. – We bottle the wine at the estate’s facilities.

Tasting Note

Brilliant in aspect, pale gold in colour with green highlights with intense complexity on the nose. The first nose is floral and opens up to notes of ripe, jammy fruit with a hint of orange peel. A subtle touch of vanilla and liquorice complete the bouquet. On the palate, the wine is round at first opening up to rich, unctuous sensations that fill the mouth. The finish is heightened by a touch of nervosity. Its flavours linger on the palate with notes of forest undergrowth, ripe lemon and mint. – Ageing potential: 3 to 5 years. Vegan.

Food Pairing

This cuvée is the perfect complement to shellfish and raw or cooked fish. It is also marvellous with white meat and goat’s cheese. It is ideal served as an aperitif as a start to a meal, or for enjoying with friends at any time of day

We offer FREE UK mainland delivery to most postcodes for all orders over £100.

Highlands and islands will be charged separately and calculated at checkout.

Delivery Schedule:

We deliver Monday to Friday, some bank holiday deliveries are possible, please check by replying to your confirmation email.

CENTRAL LONDON: We do our best to make all central London deliveries the next working day for orders placed before 12pm.

GREATER LONDON: Again for orders placed before noon we will endeavour to deliver the next day. Some areas might take us a little longer to cover, but it is unusual for these deliveries not to be within three working days.

UK MAINLAND: We deliver most orders around the rest of the UK within a working week, but some harder to reach postcodes like the north of Scotland or Isle of Wright might take longer. Please contact us for details.

Special Instructions:

If you have special delivery requirements e.g. by a specific date, am/pm, or deliver to a neighbour if out – please add them to the delivery instructions during checkout and we will try to fulfil them within reason.

Receiving your Delivery:

Please ensure someone is present to receive and sign for the goods at the delivery address. Goods must be examined; any discrepancy with your order, any damage or errors must be reported and logged on the driver’s ePOD device. Please call us if in doubt.

If you have given us an alternative address or instructions to leave your delivery at a safe place, our driver will do that but this means that we can no longer be held responsible for any loss, damage or mispicks.

Should we be unable to deliver we will try and deliver on the next available day. We might have to charge you the cost of re-delivering. This will be confirmed by email.
