In 1999, the purchase of the Perrières Estate in Manduel represented the start of a new adventure for the illustrious Alsace winemaking family of Kreydenweiss. They were particularly interested by the oldest variety, Carignan, but also by Syrah and Grenache. Biodynamic principles have been applied to the entire vineyard, and the vines are thoroughly pruned to control the yields. Les Grimaudes is a full-bodied wine, fruity, with soft tannins and a smooth and silky palate.
Vineyard & Vinification Note
Biodynamic principles have been applied to the entire vineyard. The vines are severely pruned to control the yield. After debudding, all extra shoots are removed from the vine trunk to let the sunlight reach the grappes. Manual harvesting with sorting, second sorting before destalking. Each phase is one building block in the qualitative process to maximise the mineral richness of the PERRIERES, to obtain classical, natural and delicate red wine.
Rich in iron composed of Rhône gravel, a mixture of silica, lime, flint and sandstone, an ideal soil to produce red wines.
Superficie totale : 8 ha
Vine age: between 30 et 45 ans

Robert Parker Tasting Note
“The deep ruby/purple colored 2015 Costières de Nîmes Grimaudes (60% Grenache and 40% Carignan) is a solid value that offers lots of plum, old spice cabinet, saddle leather and peppery herbs in a medium-bodied, charming and focused profile. Drink it over the coming 3-4 years.” 88 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, Dec 2016
Giles Fallowfield Tasting Note
“We liked Les Grimaudes from Kreydenweiss, a rather wild and gamey style that went really well with our large leg of Welsh lamb from the Preselli Mountains which also leans that way.” Giles Fallowfield, The Champagne Guru, May 2019
Les Grimaudes pairs with a multitude of dishes. Great with tapas, grilled sweet peppers, Bayonne ham, Mediterranean food, casseroles, risottos, tagine, scallops. Also fantastic with cheeses such as Cantal, Roquefort and regional cheeses (particularly Pélardon)
