Domaine Les Yeuses Syrah Les Epices 2020, Languedoc-Roussillon – François’ favourite
“I have been drinking Syrah les Epices recently, and it is glorious! – Needs to be a little chilled. It’s got spice, red and black ripe fruits, cherries, blackberries and hints of sweet liquorice and toffee.”François
Food pairing: Beef tenderloin or grilled steak, French lamb stew, chili con carne, cheeses. Also a lovely wine to enjoy on its own.
Domaine Fond Croze Côtes-du-Rhône Villages “Romanaise” Vaison La Romaine 2020 (Organic), Rhône – Estelle’s favourite
“I really love the wines from Domaine Fond Croze. I love Syrah from the Rhône but this is 100% Grenache and a beautiful wine. It has power, freshness, elegance, very long with a spicy aromatic finish. I think it’s very good value for money. I love it! It’s fresh and spicy at the same time”. Estelle
Food pairing: Estelle paired it with roast pork but it will go well with any meat – Will shine with a chilli con carne!
Pierre Amadieu Gigondas Le Pas de L’Aigle 2016, Rhône – Thierry and François’ favourite
“I am a huge fan of Rhone wines. We listed this wine earlier this year as we all loved it at a tasting. We had a small allocation and were thrilled to be able to ship more from Pierre Amadieu. This is their flagship wine and it is beautiful, concentrated and complex.” Thierry
“Full-bodied, rich and intense, black fruit aromas and spices. A total revelation! Lovely now but will benefit from a few years in the cellar – if I can wait that long!” François
Food pairing: This wine screams for rich dishes. Beef stews, truffle dishes, roast lamb and game.
Masseria Tagaro Pinataro Negroamaro IGT Puglia, 2022, Italy – François and Anna’s favourite
“Negroamaro from Tagaro has been my trusted favourite from day one. It’s got great concentration of red fruits and sweet spices and an amazing value for money”. François
“I have also been a lover of this wine for years as it is great value for the quality. It is rich, intensely fruity with gorgeous blackberry aromas. It has notes of balsamic and sweet spices. You’d expect it to be higher in alcohol coming from sunny Puglia, but it is 13%, and I like that.” Anna
Food pairing: It really is versatile and can be paired with seasonal dishes. Great with meaty BBQs, meat dishes and stews. Also a fantastic wine to go with autumnal dishes
Casale Dello Sparviero Chianti Classico DOCG, 2019 (Organic), Tuscany, Italy – Estelle’s favourite
“A real classic. Intense and soft at the same time. It is fresh and fruity with a long fresh finish. ” Estelle
Food pairing: Perfect with a vegetarian lasagna . The earthy mushroom and spinach, the rich tomato sauce are enhanced by the chianti.
Marco Mosconi Valpolicella DOC Superiore 2015 (Organic), Veneto, Italy – Anna’s favourite
“We listed the Marco Mosconi wines last year and I was impressed by the quality. My favourite from this young winemaker is his Valpolicella Superiore 2015 – I haven’t tasted the 2017 vintage yet. I love the gorgeous rich nose of blackberries, blackcurrant, plums, pepper, coffee and liquorice. It is so inviting! It is full-bodied, rich and very long. Valpolicella in all its glory!”Anna
Food pairing: A fantastic wine paired with red meat or rich stews. Also tried it with a mushroom risotto which was a delicious pairing.
