THIÉNOT by SPEEDY GRAPHITO
Talented Street Artist, internationally famous on the scene, Speedy Graphito mixes genres and eras. The images related to his childhood dominate his art – totally preserved from preconceptions, they create a link between the generations. This humanity, spontaneous creation and freedom of expression explain the encounter between Speedy Graphito and Garance Thiénot.
Associating urban painting with a young family House felt natural but presented a challenge between tradition and modernism. As being a young House like Thiénot is also about being free and daring in its creations yet not bypassing the French art de vivre which is intrinsic in Champagne.
In 2016, Champagne Thiénot and Speedy Graphito collaborated for the first time by offering a unique work of art, a magnum of Thiénot Brut sublimated by the styles specific to the visual artist – emoticons, Lapinture – and by the colours of the House, red and gold. This creation had then sparked off a real enthusiasm.
From this first collaboration between Speedy Graphito and Garance Thienot, was born a true friendship, and together they chose to write a new creative and artistic chapter for the end-of-year festivities with a second limited edition of the Cuvée Thiénot Brut in magnum.
“My culture is not American graffiti, it’s the Louvre. The Raft of the Médusa by Géricault and modern art especially made me want to paint. I love this emotion that we feel in front of an object when we are not yet formatted by the adult’s gaze.
This iconography, characters from comics of popular culture, belongs to a collective memory that creates a link between humans and that induces equality between all, the artist, the collector and the art lover. “
IN 2018, SPEEDY SEES LIFE IN BLUE!
It is impressive to discover in this new work of art a continuity of spirit in ‘Thienot by Speedy Graphito’ but also a pictorial style with symbolic messages.
This Rencontre # 2 is a tribute to the city of Reims where Speedy drew his inspiration during the preparation of a retrospective exhibition at the Palais du Tau in 2017. Reims is also the cradle of Champagne Thienot, where the family adventure started and continues.
The imaginary colours of the cathedral’s stained-glass windows appear as obvious under the hand of the artist in a joyful game of forms and symmetries.
The symbolism of Nature, ever-present in the work, comes in the form of revisited vine leaves, branches that link and connect the drawing with modernity and finesse. And what would end-of-year parties be without bubbles and without stars in our eyes?
Together, Speedy Graphito and Garance make this Limited Edition a sparkling and happy work of art – an enjoyable social encounter sharing art and champagne!
